Milojevic, Putintseva Win Les Petits As; Tomic's ITF Fate to be Decided in London

Like the Australian Open Junior championship matches, there wasn't a lot of suspense or drama at the finals of Les Petits As, with Serbian Nikola Milojevic and Russian Yulia Putintseva earning straight set victories. Teen Tennis champion and top seed Milojevic beat Borna Coric of Croatia 6-2, 6-3, while Putintseva took down fellow Russian Irina Khromacheva 6-4, 6-2. I've been using the Core Tennis website frequently during this tournament, and in addition to learning that the 13-year-old Milojevic had won four tournaments in Europe this year, I also discovered that he had recently lost a three-setter to the 12-year-old Coric in the final of the Junior Kremlin Cup. But with straight-set wins over Coric in the semifinals at Teen Tennis and at Les Petits As in today's final, Milojevic has claimed the upper hand in this already well established rivalry.

For Putintseva, who was the top seed at the Junior Orange Bowl 14s last year, but didn't show up, it was a second straight win over Khromacheva, who had beaten Putintseva back in March of 2008.

While Bernard Tomic has not competed since his second round loss to Gilles Muller in the men's main draw in Melbourne, the 16-year-old continues to make news. The Herald Sun reports today that Tennis Australia will not appeal any ITF ruling, regardless of its severity, when that body decides the punishment for Tomic's walking off the court at his father's behest at an ITF men's circuit event outside Melbourne in December.

What is the deal with Tomic? If no one questions his talent, heard that he is disliked by other juniors for belittling them, rude etc and that his father is an equal jerk to other players as well. TO bad that with all his talent and his coaching that he was not taught to be a respectful as well.
