Murray's Mother Sets Pushy Parents Straight
With all the comments lately on parents and their role in junior tennis, I thought a link to this article in the Sunday Times would be appropriate.
Judy Murray, Andy's mum, is behind a new website called britishtennisparents.com that provides a comprehensive and well-organized look at the issues that arise in high level junior tennis. It is debatable whether Andy Murray is a model to emulate (mercurial is one of the nicer adjectives describing his behavior), but his mother does seem to be an intelligent and realistic type who genuinely wants to help other parents. I'm still waiting to see my first parent "chart" a match, but it's not a bad idea. Maybe it's a British thing.

Hey Colette, Just wanted to let you know....My husband (who is a coach)started charting our kids matches years ago. It helped keep my husaband calm and focused and also the kids liked it because their dad didn't react to the mistakes or to their winners.
Are you sure Jessie Witten got in? Because he it shows him currently on serve with Scott Oudsema at 1-1 in the 1st set of their qualies match.

Im sorry to sound random here, but does anyone know a website that is covering the international hard court tournamnent, i have 2 players playing in it? and would like to know if there is a site, or somewhere that i can find pictures, thanks again

I'm the parent of two tennis-playing American kids -- and I have charted my children's matches since I first got the form from my daughter's coach years ago. It's a great way to keep from going too nuts while watching -- you can't really say anything while they play, so this at least gives you a chance to do something besides gnaw on your fingernails. And it does help sometimes in pinpointing problem areas -- their pro always liked looking at it. I've even had parents of opponents ask for copies.
You do have to laugh. "Murray's mother sets pushy parents straight." Murray's mother was the Scottish National Tennis Coach of ten years. Might she have had something substantial to do with introducing, encouraging, supervising, and developing her son's tennis career. I mean surely that's why he plays tennis today, isn't it? His mothers lead. So where does guide become push or shove? The surprise would have been if Andy had picked fencing or archery as a sport. Or worse decided to give up tennis and become an accountant.
